Our OFSTED inspection in 2009 graded us as an outstanding school. Inspectors were especially impressed by the
rate of progress made by our pupils and by our excellent curriculum. Following the inspection we received a letter from Her Majesty's Chief Inspector confirming that our school is exceptional and that significant elements of our work are exemplary. The grade of outstanding puts our school within the top 15% of all schools in the country.

Basic Skills Primary Quality Mark 2009
The school was awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark in February 2009 in recognition of our achievements in developing literacy and numeracy skills for all children. There is a great deal of work involved in preparing the school for assessment for this award and only a handful of schools in Kirklees have been successfully assessed.
Artsmark Gold Award 2009

In May 2009 Honley C.E (C) Infant & Nursery School was awarded an Artsmark by the Arts Council of England. This award is national recognition of our commitment to the provision of opportunities across the arts from Drama to Music, Design to Literature and Dance to Sculpture. The scheme also recognises our commitment to working in partnership with artists and arts organisations. We are proud of our award as it is a difficult status to acheive within an Infant and Nursery setting.
Activemark Award

Honley C.E. (C) Infant & Nursery School has achieved the Activemark award by Sport England since 2001. This award is national recognition of the school's commitment to promoting the benefits of physical activity. The award has been presented to schools throughout England who provide an
environment which encourages physical activity, offers a broad and balanced physical education programme and teaches children the importance of staying active.
Financial Management Standard in Schools

The Financial Management Standard was awarded to us in March 2009. This standard is awarded to schools who can demonstrate that procedures in terms of financial control are in place and that staff and Governors have a high level of competency in financial matters.
Award for the Kirklees Healthy School Standard

In July 2002, and again in June 2007 Honley CE (C) Infant and Nursery School was awarded the Kirklees Healthy School Standard. Our school has proved that it is fully committed to being an establishment promoting healthy lifestyle and that this is an integral and ongoing part of school life. All members of
the school community - pupils, staff and parents helped us gain the award.
Criteria for the new
1. There must be a whole-school awareness of health promotion and the school has to have a named Health Promotion Co-ordinator.
2. There must be a developmental PSHE education programme.
3. The school must either be totally non-smoking or fully operate the Kirklees smoking policy and show it is working toward being completely smoke free.
4. a. If running a tuck shop the school must provide healthy options.
b. The school meals must offer well balanced, nutritious options and give guidance to studants about what that onstitutes.
5. The school must have a safe, clean, well-ordered and stimulating environment.
6. The school must encourage the on-going and active involvement of pupils, staff, governors, parents and members of the local community in the life of the school and the school in the life of the local community.
7. There must be clear evidence of a supportive school ethos which values ll members of the school community.
8. The school must identify a specific achievement, within the wider context of health promotion, which the school has been involved in.
9. The school must offer a broad and balanced physical education and physical activity programme, provide an environment which encourages physical activity, and teach children the importance of staying active for life.
Young people achieve most when their learning and health are considered together.
